Fitting In

Fine art photo showing a partially nude woman with striped light projected onto her torso standing against a horizonally striped background

This fine art photo is titled “Fitting In.”
I did this photo about 2 years. Like most of my photo shoots we didn’t have any particular themes in mind for the shoot. I prefer to “go with the flow” and find inspiration in the moment. The model had brought along a dress with a bold chevron pattern which brought to my mind the idea of a complementary patterns of stripes. I used flash projector called a Light Blaster with a custom transparency I had created to project the stripe pattern and shot a number of variations with the pattern projected onto her as well as onto the background.
3D background used for the fine art photo "Fitting In"The final image shown here is a composite using a frame where the stripe pattern was projected onto her torso. The striped background was created as a 3D object in Photoshop. I felt the background was too perfect so I wanted to create some smudges so I used a faint blurred version of her portrait.
The visibility of the portrait in the background varies a lot depending on the viewing size and resolution. My goal is always to create large high quality fine art prints. In this case, the blurred portrait in the background only becomes visible from around 15 feet away or more on a 16 X 20 inch print.
Over the years I’ve produced a wide assortment of semi-abstract fine art nudes that made distinctive wall décor for man caves or anyplace where you want art with an edge. Prints of “Fitting In” and many other images by me are now available to order online at www.mancavenudes.com.
