Yin and Yang, Light and Shadow

Fine art interpretation of the ancient yin and yang symbol for wall decor

Yin and yang come from the Chinese philosophy of seemingly opposite forces connecting and complementing each other. I’ve always been attracted to the graphic simplicity of the symbol and set out to create a fine art figure version representation.

The photo itself was somewhat complex to produce. The most difficult aspect was suspending the heavy camera on a boom so that it was centered over the two models. I used a white circular reflector for the circle with a sheet of black seamless paper underneath to create the design.

Lighting is an important part of any fine art photo and I frequently use a light painting technique where I use a flashlight to paint light onto the subject. In this case I captured numerous different frames where each frame had different areas illuminated. I then used Photoshop to combine the multiple layers of light into a finished image.

Would you like your own fine art print of “Yin and Yang?”  You can order it directly through Man Cave Nudes gallery. The images are printed on durable aluminum sheets and are ready to be displayed without any added bother and expense of framing. Prints on aluminum provide a clean and modern look and make perfect décor for a man cave or other space where you want to display art that makes a statement.
